<<<<<<<<If you plan to deploy it without a windows domain, you will need to make registry edits to the client machines manually >>>>>>>
what is the purpose of this?

the registry edits point the clients at the sus server, set the install policy (i.e. when to install the updates etc).  These registry changes are normally done via group policy which requires a windows domain

I think using SUS in a non-domain network has no help than just running windows updates from each computer.
is this wrong?

thanks
