I just looked at the sources (delphi 7) and tblobfield.savetofile calls savetostream passing a tfilestream to it. so I don't see much chances of the behaviour you are saying

Am I correct in thinking that LoadFromFile and savetofile only work with short file names 8.3 or 10.3 ? is there any way to use these functions with long file names e.g 'This is a long file name.pdf'<br />
