SBS 2003 not detecting Travan tape drive

Hello experts,

I have SBS 2003 with internal tape backup STT3401A (Travan 40 GB tape drive). The tape drive shows on Device Manager, but it failed to backup the server. I have searched through similar questions concerning this problem and had tried to do suggested steps posted on this web such as going to Computer Management, click the Removable Storage and everytime I did that there was an error message:

"The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled device associated with it."

"This snapin's display may be inconsistent with the Removable Storage Services. If the problem persist please restart the snappin."

I also went to the Backup Wizard under Server Management, click the Configure Backup, Change existing backup settings, and the option "Backup to the tape drive (recommended)" is greyed out.

I also uninstalled the driver, reinstalled it. Connected the drive by itself jumpered as Master, connected through the middle IDE connector as a Slave with DVD burner at the end of the cable, still no luck.

Dear experts, I need your help. Thanks a million in advance.
