Bring addresses in a group back into address book
I have erased by address book (ughh!) but just realized that I had created some groups and saved them. How can I put the contents of these groups back into my regular address book?

Well, I still do not really understand the last solution. I exported my group of addresses as a csv and opened in excel then imported them back. I did not realize that only email and names were saved in the group. So, the bottom line is I have a lot of work ahead of me and will need to make a back-up of my addresses more often!

When you say groups, do you mean distribution lists. Export the distribution list as CSV file. Then import the CSV file into Outlook.
You can save the addresses to a text file by doing the following:
1) Click on contacts
2) double click on the distribution list to "edit/view" it.
3) Go to File -> Save As
4) Save it as a .txt file
If you need to save it as a CSV file, open the text it up in Excel and saved it as a csv file
Best wishes!
