Hardware problem

I have a 700mhz machine running Windows 2000. It started to act up by just shutting down while using the computer. Shortly thereafter I would turn the computer on, see the initial bootup, then the monitor itself would shut off. Consequently I replaced the video card. After replacing the video card I turned the computer on again only to notice the computer turn on bu the hard drive made no sound nor any of the normal lights from the hard drive, cdrom or floopy turn on. I temporarily used another hard drive just to test with the same result. Computer turns on but nothing happening afterwards. I know the replacement hard drive works as I was able to use it in another machine. Any suggestions??
