Network Printer keeps printing " Invalid TFTP operation - Exiting firmware update

Hi

I have an epson TM88II receipt printer that has an Epson NIC installed.  I can print to this printer across the network from any PC but it just randomly printing out the message - Invalid TFTP operation - Exiting firmware update.  This is a major problem as it is using all the thermal paperand is sometimes stopping the print jobs going through.  The network is MS running 2003 Server, 48 Port Netgear switch etc.  I have identical sites with identical hardware and this is not happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as Epson do not have any idea about this.

Thanks

Can you access the printers configuration. It would appear that it is set up to automatically obtain updates from a TFTP file server which you likely do not have in place. If you can access the printers configuration, you should be able to switch off/disable this function.

Hi

Thanks for the reply but there is no way of turning off/disabling this function.  It is strange as like I said exactly the same hardware using same firmware is at different sites and no problems?
Make sure all the dip switches are set the same as your other printers. If you make any changes the unit has to be powered off and on for them to be enforced. Personally I would recomend only changing the switches with the unit powered off, for safety sake.

There is also an Epson utility that allows you to upload a logo to the printer. Willing to bet this uses TFTP. It is possible this was done and did not completely install. You could try re-running if you have done so.
Thanks for those suggestions but this printer does not have any dip switches that I can see and no logo has been uploaded.  Any other ideas?

Thanks
Sorry no other ideas. Thought thy had a series of dip switches under a cover on the bottom of the unit.
Ok Thanks,  does anyone else have any ideas?  I think this is network orientated as I can install this printer on my company network and works perfectly fine with no errors or anything.
The solution to this was that an Avaya IP Office telephone system on the network was broadcasting tftp updates.  Thanks for suggestions.
Thank you Jason for publishing the solution. Never thought another app could be involved, and I use Avaya IP phones <G>.
Cheers !
