What will be the best way to get a complete copy of a hard drive that is currently in a computer???

Hello,

What will be the best way to get a complete copy of a hard drive that is currently in a computer???

Not backup - COPY.

It is in a compter that has the old version 1 USB ports - so I know it will be slow going that route - but this may be my only "easy" option.

Do I need any special software to do this - or do I use windows xp copy functions? Will things be lost doing it through windows copy features?

I would appreciate a fast reply.

Thanks,
m-coon

Dead easy this question, use some disk imaging software and either creat an Image or clone the drive to another drive. If you create an image you can clone this to another drive later and you have a handy back up.

Here's a link to acronis it's a superb piece of software http://eu.acronis.com/enterprise/download/ATICW/ it's also a great back up tool and there is a 15 day trial of the product, I'd suggest buying it but it will be good for a one off use, you will of course have to register to get the freebie.

Basically get yourself another drive install the software and install the new drive, The help files are great and they will walk you through what you need to do.
