Import Data with Null Field

Microsoft SQL Server

I apologize for my lack of experience - I come from the network world and I have recently been employed by a company that has an app that runs on top of SQL Server.  I AM the IT department, so the SQL server now belongs to me.  I know enough to be dangerous.

Here's my issue:
I need to import some data from a spreadsheet into a table in the db.  I know the process to do this using the wizard.
The problem - in the table is a field that is labled as not null.  This field is populated 'automatically' when users enter information through the application.
When I try to import my data, I get an error based on the fact that this field cannot be null.
What is the workaround for this?

As a side note:  anyone know of any good resource(s) to get a SQL newbie up to speed?
