Although this is a great suggestion, it is not what I was hoping for. There are Intelectual property and copyright concerns (downloading and then distributing), hence the need to have embedded within the webpage or to open within a standalone player by the click of a link. The issue I am having now is that I create the flash movie in a set resolution say 800x600; yet when I change my screen resolution to say 1024x768 it chops the bottom of the movie off, then when I set my screen resolutio to say 1900x1200 the movie window is too small in size and can hardly be read. Is there a way that the falsh movie can be resized to the web page window regardless of the desktop screen resolution setting?
That guy is totally wrong, why are you lying aneeshchopra ?

You can easyly add the swf type to open always with your external player, like the one which comes with Flash 8.

soygey,
Please read the comment and question carefully before commenting,

question is not to open a local swf which is on your harddisk folder,
question is about,
if you have a url to online swf on a webpage which is already opened in IE or anyother webbrowser, by clicking on that link you can't open that SWF directly on standalone player..

I hope you get it now
