Proliant Smart Array 3200 error
I am getting this error on startup on a Compaq Proliant ML350 G2:
101 - I/O ROM ERROR
When I take out the Smart Array 3200 Controller card, the error on longer appears during start up. Has anyone seen this problem before? I'm assuming it is defective, as I just purchased it off eBay, but thought I'd get a second opinion on this. Is there anything that can be done with this, or is it ready for the garbage? I have verified that the 2 small circuit boards are firmly attached to the primary one.
I have been trying to use the array config utility off the Smartstart 5.5 cd, but it just hangs. Nothing ever happens. It doesn't even seem to detect any of the drives. I did try placing the card in another socket with the same result.

You can try upgraing the firmware of the 3200 with the maintenance CD but it probably won't work if it is already corrupt. Still worth a try though, it's at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/22489.html
101 generally point to a system board issue.
I would remove any other peripheral cards (nic, modem, etc from the pci slots and see if you can get it to boot to the Smart Start cd. If you can, I would update the rom to the latest version. After that try to re-insert the peripheral cards one at a time.
Hopefully this will resolve the problem.

I'll try the update for the 3200. I updated the system bios to the current rev with no problems.
So it can be a problem with the system board even when the error disappears when removing the 3200? Keep in mind, it does boot ok and make it through everything fine except it hangs only for the array config utility.

After running the firmware maintenance cd, I am convinced it is nothing more than the array controller. With the controller in, it never finishes scanning for hardware devices. It just hangs. When I take it out, it successfully scans the server. I could not even update the controller if I wanted to. I have a new one on the way. I'll post the results in the coming week.

The 3200 was bad. Works great with the replacement. Thanks for the assistance to all.
