Administrator Password for Recovery Console??
I am using Windows XP SP2, in Recovery Console, it asked for my Administrator password, I typed in correctly (as I can use the same password to login WinXP), but it always say that the password is invalid...
What's wrong? How can I reset the administrator password for recovery console??
Thanks!!

Hi raymng,
Try just hitting the 'Enter' key and see what happens (blank password).
Post back when you can.

Lots of folks here use this: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
Are you using a non english keyboard and does the password contain characters that would be at a different location on an english keyboard? The language driver for the keyboard won't be loaded yet when started to the recovery console, so you may have to find out where your keys would be located on an US ASCII keyboard.

Good article Carl.
Not sure if its recomended but as far as I am aware I think you can use a windows 2000 disc to get into recovery console and it wont ask you for a password - not sure if thats true or not though but I have heard a few people saying that they have done that and it worked for them.

Just for clarification....
It's asking the *THE* Administrator password... not for the password for a user account that's in the local administrators group.

Is this XP home or Pro?
Pro will display the unique 'Administrator' account during Normal Boot (regardless of whether the account name has been changed).
Home will only display it during a Safe Boot'
