That's just typical of computers.  just like the clonking noise on your car that goes away just as you take it to the mechanic to have it looked at.  Hopefully it will stay away.  Thsnks.  Bill

Hmmm.  I've never heard of pvcmail before, so I searched google.
Amongst the hits it threw up this desperate sounding guy looking for a "female  aged 28 to 50 anywhere in the world" - preferably with some of her own teeth, a pulse, and real hair, I would imagine :-)

No need to say what other type of sites came up with "pvc" in key words.

Seriously though, is pvcmail a plugin or file/mail manager for an older version of Pegasus Mail?

Whatever is is shown behind the error dialog looks like an old Windows 3.1 program.  If you still have any old floppies from which to reinstall the program, then that would be worth a try, or is it maybe just coincidence that the program behind the error just happens to be open at the time the error pops up and isn't related.

If you could provide us with some details of what folder pvcmail.(exe?) is in, and what program it seems to be related to, then maybe we can dig up some details to shed more light on the error.

Have you tried the Dr Watson suggestion?

i have no idea - the phone system was in place before i started in the company.  We are looking to upgrade, but for now i need to get this one fixed as it keep crashing our phone system... which as you will know in a large office like im in, is causing me hassle...

>>maybe just coincidence that the program

the program behind the error dialog is our phone system software.  it running on windows 98.

our phone system software is on 24/7 and i only get this error popping up if this program is running...

i'll search for pvcmail.exe and i'll get back to you with what i find...

>>Have you tried the Dr Watson suggestion?

No, i couldnt find it on our system.

If you locate any pvcmail.* files, then you may be able to check the files' dependencies using Dependency Walker.  Win98 doesn't have the "depends.exe" that exists in eg. Windows XP, so you would need to download it from here:

http://www.dependencywalker.com/
http://www.dependencywalker.com/depends22_x86.zip
(that version runs in Win95 through to win2003)

The problem is that if the executables and associated program files are 16-bit, then it won't work.  The telephone system's icons certainly have the appearance of old 16-bit Windows 3.1 type programs.

Dependency Walker shows you any problems with dependent files, and may reveal the root of the conflict.

Invalid Page Faults can be caused by any of the resaons listed under "causes" here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q286180/

My guess is that, if no other processes are crashing out, then you may not have problem RAM but it would be an idea to test it anyway.

Check the Free Disk Space and Virtual Memory first.  It might be a good idea to disable virtual memory, reboot, enable it again and then reboot to get rid of any possible corruption there.

Windows Memory Diagnostic:
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/mtinst.exe

Run mtinst.exe and choose to extract an *.ISO image to burn to CD, or to create a boot floppy.  Booting to either will run the memory tests in its own environment and you should toggle the extended tests on with the "T" key and allow it to complete all its cycles.

If that's clear, then download the appropriate hard drive diagnostics utility from the hard drive manufacturer's site.  Usually the download will create a boot floppy with the options, but steer clear of the low-level format that is often included as a menu option from such boot floppies containing the drive fitness tests.
