We are using a custom J2EE application that uses the Hibernate ORM (ver 3.05) to connect to a MS Sql Server 2000 (ver SP3 - AKA - 8.00.760).
Normal Hibrernate reading and writing is resulting in TOO MANY BLOCKING LOCKS on the DB. When 10 people simultaneously log in and read/write data there are far too many locks, and the DB is almost dead. This is in production! We also have a few deadlocks here and there
We have reasoanabe size hardware , a decent network and environment.
All read only queries are in Uncommitted Read, Other queries are in READ COMMITTED level.
What can I do to reduce the number of locks ?
