IBM PC5250 Emulator - PDSERR100 Error allocating memory
Hi
One of our users is getting an error message when trying to start a PC5250 emulator.
The error is:
PCSERR100 - Error Allocating xxxx bytes of memory from the Windows global memory heap.
No other programs are running at the time. The PC is running XP Pro with Service Pack 2 installed.
Search of the web has said that installing SP2 resolves the issue, bnut in this case it has not.
IBM state that it is a problem with soundblaster drivers in NT4
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

Hi
Thanks for that. I have already updated the sound card drivers which, incidentally, is NOT a soundblaster. The soundcard on board these machines are Realtek.
This did not resolve the problem!
In the end I uninstalled and reinstalled the emulator, which resolved the issue, but I would still rather have a less drastic course of action.

It may not be the audio drivers. I have found that a couple of different types of code conflict with the emulator and can cause this problem. So the question is, has this ever worked? if so what changed from when it did to when it didn't? If it has never worked look at the memory range usage of the various devices (from device manager) and see what is using memory in the same range that the emulatior is configured for.
Which version of PCOM are you running? I vaguely remember this problem with a older version (V5.2) that was fixed by a CSD level.

Yes, as IBM mentioned it is correct;
To resolve the problem, the customer will either need to update the Sound Blaster cards drivers or remove the card from the PC.
