Fixed Objects Will Move Error

When trying to use autofilter in Excel we are experiencing an error.  "Fixed Objects Will Move" comes up but does not go away.  I tried unfreezing frames, and I do not know of any objects in the spreadsheet that are "fixed" that might cause this error to occur.  What are some things that cause this and what can I do to rectify this?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Hi,
Are there any comments in the data? Did you unfreeze panes before applying the filter or after?

I unfroze the panes before applying the filter.  There are comments in the spreadsheet.

Does it help if you remove the Autofilter altogether, unfreeze the panes, then re-apply the Autofilter to the data and filter as required? Are the comments set to Move and Size with cells?
Note: I can't reproduce this issue so am guessing. The only mentions of this I have seen in the newsgroups imply that either unfreezing panes or removing the shapes (comments) is the solution.

The problem was that the “Copy” button withinone of the tabs was on every row (all the way to the end, 60,000 or so).

When we did a search for objects, this button did not show up in the search.  The creator of the spreadsheet was the only one aware of this button's existance and knew to look for it.

To get rid of the problem, I simply deleted all rows where there was a “Copy” button, but no data in the row. Then I turned AutoFilter off, and turned it back on. This eliminated the “Fixed Objects Will Move” error message that we received.

DirectDesk,

Why couldn't you see the button?

I think someone wasn't looking carefully. Sorry if this complicated the question----or if it makes me look daft. ;)
