440 Login Timeout Error with OWA

Hey,

When trying to access OWA even from http://localhost/exchange i get '440 Login Timeout' displayed.

OMA works, RWW works, Intranet works but Connect Comptuer gives 'You are not authorized to view this page
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.'

The last time I started messing around with permissions in IIS I completely wrecked it so I am reluctant to do that again, I need some assistance from someone with more knowledge!

What can I tell you to help me resolve this?

Can you post an IPconfig /all of the server?

ASKER

This SBS box uses one network card with an external hardware firewall as the gateway. I know this isnt the typical method for an SBS box but its what we have always used successfully.

The second network card with 192.168.0.9 isnt actually used.

Can you get to companyweb with admin account?
Are you using the router for DHCP?
If you are not using the second NIC disable it.
Did you run the Internet connection wizard: Server management>to do list?
Any errors in the Event log?

Your problem is that you have the same IP Subnet on BOTH of your server's NICs.  These need to be separate.  Please see http://sbsurl.com/twonics for an example of how to configure.

At this point, change the WAN side IP and rerun the CEICW.  But first make sure that DHCP is running on the SBS not your router.  If it's on the router, follow the bottom of this document to get it back to the server:  http://sbsurl.com/dhcp

Jeff,
He's only using the one Nic.

No, hadnt actually tried this. But it comes up with the sharepoint page telling the user they dont have permission to access the page?

Are you using the router for DHCP?

No, SBS server is managing DHCP.

If you are not using the second NIC disable it.

Done this and re-ran CEICW.

Did you run the Internet connection wizard: Server management>to do list?

Yes

Any errors in the Event log?

We get a few 'MSExchangeTransport Event ID: 929' but I dont this this is related?
What is supposed to be set for Authentication and Access Control for the Exchange & ExchWeb virtual directorys?

You can't just say that a NIC isn't being used if it shows on an IPCONFIG /ALL.  You need to either physically remove the NIC from the server, or at the very least disable it.  Please do that and then run the CEICW again.

OlafDC,

Set those as specified, stopped and started Default website, re-ran CEICW but still get '440 Login Timeout'

Jeff,

I had already done that, anything else you can think of?

Got a result here!

It seems the IUSR password was out of sync with IIS! Points will be awarded to OlafDC as Authentication & Access settings were incorrectly set aswell.
