Hi:

It looks like there are some control characters in
some fields of a table. I think the character
is a tab, control 10: ◙

I don't seem to be able to use the Find and Replace
operation to remove it from the table.

When I enter it into the Find field, it doesn't return
any values.

How do I remove this character ?

Thanks,
Phil Miller

if you want to remove the character  & and # from the table
you can use an update query

update tableName set field1=Replace(Replace([field1], chr(38),""),chr(35),"")

SQL from cap should work
If u find u have more,  u could use a vba function that strips all control chars

eg
paste this into a module then save it

Public Function StripHighBitChars(sMemoText As String) As String

    Dim sReturn As String
    Dim x

    sReturn = ""
    For x = 1 To Len(sMemoText)

        If ((Asc(Mid(sMemoText, x, 1)) > 31) And (Asc(Mid(sMemoText, x, 1)) < 127)) Then _
            sReturn = sReturn & Mid(sMemoText, x, 1)
    Next

    StripHighBitChars = sReturn

End Function

then u can use it in a query like this

update mytable set myfield = StripHighBitChars(myfield)

note, always advisable to do a backup beforehand, u need to ensure all updates are fine.

Hi:

When I submit the query:
update mytable set myfield = StripHighBitChars(myfield)

I get the error message: Ambiguous character in StripHighBitChars(myfield)
