apache problem downloading a GB size file

I have a dedicated server running on centos v4.4 and also I have apache web server,
but im having some problems where some of the files are around 4 and 5 GB of
the site backups, im trying to download it but is not working, can someone please
tell me why is this?

the 200MB file downloads fine
the 20mb file download fine
the 2GB file doesnt download!

what else im I supposed to say?

Okay, for starters:

1. How are you trying to download the files? (HTTP, FTP, sftp, scp, bittorrent)
2. What error message, if any do you get when you attempt to download the files?
3. When did this problem start? Were you able to download these files before?
4. What OS are you downloading the files to? What filesystem are you trying to store them in?

On the other hand RedHat was known to build apache without large files support (over 2GB). Verify in apache's error log if that's also true for centos...
And last thing. The large file support was introduces in apache 2.0. If You still with 1.3 - no luck.
