Greetings

I need some help ... I am converting my website from Perl to PHP ... I am almost done ... but I have to run a cgi script that cannot be converted to php ... I have PHP Version 4.3.11 on Fedora ... the cgi script is on the same box ... I am desperate to run this script

i tried this:

$cgi_string = "http://www.mywebserver.com/cgi-bin/convert_stuff.cgi";
$result = file_get_contents($cgi_string);

file_get_contents is taking forever , it is timing out ... convert_stuff.cgi works when i run it thru the browser ... convert_stuff changes a bunch of tables in the database , and changes are correct when ran thru the browser ... for the life of me i cannot get it to work inside php code ... please help
