IP Socket Send/Receive via ASP.NET using C#

Last Modified: 2013-11-25
I am attempting to send and receive data from a web solution using a socket created in C# via ASP.NET.  There is a lot of information out there regarding C# and IP sockets.  However, I've yet to find a concise solution for creating a socket, connecting to an IP address, sending data, and then listening for data coming back.  Accomplishing this from a Windows application is not the goal -- I'm needing to connect directly from the ASP.NET web page, preferably using C#.  I'm not bent on C# if there is a better route.  At this point my web solution instantiates a COM Object that handles all of the IP communications but I'm attempting to remove the COM Object from the architecture.  Any pointers?

Thanks for your help.  I'm sure your answer would work.  I ended up implementing it as VB.NET.  I was pointed in the right direction at http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/20020323.asp.
