XP computer disconnects when left on over night.

XP PRO workstation will disconnect from user or shared drives when left on overnight.  Sometimes will also disconnect throughout the day.  I have already replaced the computer, verified no problems on the port its plugged into on the cisco switch, tested the cable and unchecked allow nic to power off for power settings.  The user is logging into the domain from the workstation.  The domain resides on one WIndows 2003 file/domain server.  The Server is all up to date with service packs.  It's an HP ML350 g3 with 4.5 gigs of memory with about 80 users logging into the domain, but only about 20 percent of these users connect to there files on the server. Is there any windows problem i'm missing from the server?  Do I have enough memory in the server?

self-tuning ability of the OS?
Yes.

This based on a Microsoft article (which escapes me):  http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=0186

Used Group Policy to change the amount of idle time required before suspending session =0.  The problem is still happening.  Did not reboot ... Was a reboot required after changing this setting?

Did not try to  map the drive persistently yet... I will give this a shot.  The mapped drive does not show up as disconnected on the OS, but throughout the day the user's computer will lock up when trying to connect to a file on the mapped drive.  If the user restarts the computer it fixes the problem temporarily.

Also I made sure both username passwords meet password security requirments.( Had similar connections issues do to password security before)

Tried mapping the drive persistently... Any other ideas???
Yes, a reboot of the client would be necessary.

Interesting...

Zero has always disabled it in past.

I don't see any solution for a XP workgroup which has no 'group policy' as described here.
