Remote desktop issues

Hi All

First time on experts exchange!

We have a system that uses windows mobile from a PDA to connect to a remote pc (LAN) to exchange information, etc.
We have spent alot of time developing an application that performs all our tasks on the mobile device. After much testing we have concluded that we have reached the limits of what the device can do, but still have not reached the level of reliability required for our project.

We have therefore come to our next option, remote desktop. This is something that we had researched when we first took on the project but for the following reasons, did not persue:

 1. There seems to be a limit as to what you can control from within your mobile device application, ie we cannot rely upon the end user to go through the manual connection process themselves, we need an application that presents that options to the user for connection, then performs the connection using some sort of RDP API. We could not find such a thing or anything that suited.

 2. Due to processor limitations we needed to perform display scaling on the server side, not the client side. We are comming from a 1024x768 resolution to a 320x240 on the device. We could not find any such options or a way to perform this on the host pc (if there is also any other option, this would be great).

In order to continue down this new path with the project we need to resolve the above issues first. Any help would be great.
