POP3 Error 0x800CCC90

All of a sudden, one of my remote employees said he started receiving this error message:
Task 'mail.companyname.com' - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90): 'Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported and internal error. If you continue to receive this problem, contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP). The server responded: -ERR Operation aborted'.

He this started happening after he hooked his laptop in a hotel while traveling. I have other remote employees on POP3 accounts and they are working fine. I don't know what Operation aborted means here!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well my error message is not the same as his:
Mine is "ERR Operation aborted". I dont think message encoding is causing this.  Thanks anyway.
That is classic interference.
I presume that this is POP3 from your Exchange server?
If you setup a test account and try it from inside the firewall, does it work?

Simon.

Yes this is POP3 from our exchange 2003 box.
Yup it works behind our firewall, in fact one of our employees works that way and even when remote employees come here they just have to change the name of the mail server...to fqdn n everything is fine.
This issue is quite baffling....other remote employees dont have such problems!

The issue got resolved on its own....I haven't specifically done anything. Who should award the points to? Please let me know. Thanks.
