Outlook settings for show me time for free/busy times

I am looking to find out how Outllok 2003 using the "Show time as" feature (options are free, tentataive, busy Out of office) displays in the free/busy view when scheduling a meetnig.  Our tests were not clear on when selecting a option how does it appear to others when trying to setup a meeting?  Does it actually use these setting when displaying the object

The striping in the box represents how it shows up on your calender and other people's calendars.  Solid blue for busy, Hollow for free, striped blue for tentative, and purple for out of office.

It will only show other people's calendars for a couple months in advance (Without fiddling with the settings) and you have to be using an exchange server to have the shared calendar functionality.
