Deleting profiles using group policy

Some of my users have got lots of old icons on their desktops which I'm having problems getting rid of.  I can give them a fresh roaming profile on the server but that then picks up the old icons when they log onto a pc.  It unfeasible to go round to the pc's in advance to delete the local profile as they use lots of pc's.

I know there's a group policy to delete the local cached copy of a roaming profile at logoff but I'm wondering if there's a way to delete the local profile before the server profile is downloaded.

If not using group policy, is there another way?

You could force them to use the server copy of the profile....which works out perfect in a situation like yours....too many profiles on many machines...

Option of "Wait for Remote user profile"  Under Computer Config > Admin templates > System > User Profiles

You may have to watch out for slow link detection settings, depending on if you have that configured....
