Uninstalling Exchange using ADSIEDIT

i have an exchange 2000 server that was very unstable so we installed a new 2003 ex.server.

the other vendor had it setup as a DC running exchange for the past 6 yrs , in additional to another DC ( Both Global cats)-

we have 2003 ex. running okay but have had problems trying to uninstall b.c the OS is unstable.
nothing works in reg. mode but in safe mode -  i can get to the point of removing exchange 2000. problem is -  its' looking for The EX. 2000 cd .

is there any way around this b/c i don't have one.

additionally, microsoft tech.support connected remotely the other day and used adsiedit to remove the exchange server.

however- they never told us if this is all that needed to be done ( in other words) -
can i just turn off this piece of junk and be done with it or do i actually have to unisntall exchange first, then run dcpromo.

they told us that by using adsi edit -  i could turn it off even while ad was still on it and exchange 2000.

pls. advise,

thanks
