Hello all,

My company just hard a new security expert for the it team, he's is now going out of his way to make life as diffcult as possible.  Over weekend they implemented a new 15 minute auto-log off / lock your computer policy.  This not only effected my desktop which i dont mind, but hit my laptop too.  I imagine using active directory?

Am i stuck just clearing the password on my local admin account and not logging into the domain?

Any other workarounds in place?

Thanks!

Public Const SC_SCREENSAVE = &HF140
  Public Const WM_SYSCOMMAND = &H112
  Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As System.Windows.Forms.Message)
    If m.Msg = WM_SYSCOMMAND And m.WParam.ToInt32 = SC_SCREENSAVE Then
      m.Result = New IntPtr(CInt(True))
    Else
      MyBase.WndProc(m)
    End If
  End Sub

Ahh, just a simple program will do the trick, windows will message each program running and ask if its ok to dump to screensaver.  All you have to do is intercept this message and say no. :)

PC usage policies are great until they effect productivity, dumping to screensaver and crashing my vmware session thats running an overnight build is completly unacceptable.  Costing me hours of work all because they need to make a wild stab at security that can be easily defeated with a linux bootdisk...  There lucky i havent fdisk'd windows and installed fedora... :)
