Is using Remote Desktop to connect to my server in the office secure???

We have a Windows 2003 R2 server in the office that we need to connect to remotely from the house.  We have a Linksys router with port 3389 forward to the

server.  By doing this,  are we exposing our network??  Is safe to do?  Can more than one user be connected to the server at the same time?  What are the pros

and cons of using remote desktop over the internet???

Please help.

Thank you

Using Remote desktop connect directly to internet are not secure. Better use VPN connection to connect to office and then use remote desktop is more safety.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VPN
coolwiz is correct, although i dont know about the "Great risk" that may be a little bit of a stretch.
if possible then do one of the following (sorted in order of cost & difficulty)
1. At the router (if it allows it) only allow connections from a specific ip to use that port. This would require you to have a static IP at home.
2. Create a VPN. This is free but a little dificult to configure if its your first time.
3. Use ISA, this involves installing and configuring ISA to add a layer of security.

2 users (and they must be administrators) is correct, but you can also have as many as you want if yu purchase terminal server licences, EXCEPT on SBS which is limited to the two administrators.

and regardless of which way you go, make sure that you have good username/account policies in place.
