Noisy cooling Fan Toshiba tecra 9100

I have a four year old Thosiba  tecra 9100 running winXP.
The laptop is working fine. Only, lately when  I use the laptop,
I  hear an irritating ticking sound from the cooling fan.

I guess the cooling fan is the source of the problem thou
I haven't opened it up to have a look inside the laptop.

My questions
1) Is it easy to replace the cooling fan ?
2) Can an equivalent cooling fan be used ?
3) Approximate cost of the cooling fan?

Any one with a experience of a similar  problem ? Could
give me the right directions or advise before I decide
to dismantle the laptop up.

Thank you for your time.

You may be able to find the Toshiba tecra 9100 maint. manual on the Toshiba site.

I hope this helps !

Thank you all for the suggestion.
Spray did not help at all. So was forced to dismantled the cooling module out of the laptop.
The fan need to be replaced. I see 3 wires coming out of the motor. ( black, red and orange)

What is the orange wire for ?
As it  is impossible to repair the tiny fan. I am wondering if it is a
a good idea  to remove the fan out of the module and replace with another similar size 5v fan.

Any comments would be appreciated.

can't you get a replacement at Toshiba, or on e-bay?
the orange wire is for speed control sensor

nobus,

The cooling module is pricy at US 129 dollar excluding the postage at ebay.
The noisy bit is just the fan which should be less than five dollars.
It does not make sense to pay for the heat sink
The heat sink is perfectly ok.
