CPEAUT Error occurred on server 20534
I have a 3rd party web app that uses Crystal Reports to access a SQL server database. On occassion we were getting the error message "CPEAUT Error occurred on server 20534". We would repoot the server and it would work for a while. Now, however, that doesn't seem to work. Can anybody tell me what this error is and how to fix it?
I don't find the specific error 20534 and CPEAUT in the same message on the Crystal site. All references to CPEAUT or 20534 relate back to the Crystal OCX and fairly old versions of Crystal (CR8 and earlier).

Unfortunately it is a very old version of Crystal. 7 I think. The vendor has abandoned this app.
We are using SQL 2000 and I don't think it has been updated recently.
We are also on Windows XP SP2. Who knows which patches have been installed?

CR7 probably has problems on XP. It is about 8-10 years old.
It probably uses the OCX viewer which was dropped as unsupportable in CR8. There were no updates to it after CR6.
Do you have a newer version of Crystal? Are the reports yours or did they come with the application?

mimcc,
The reports came with the application. It is an ASP web app. I can access the rpt files and open them in .Net. I think you are right about the OCX viewer. It is dated 1999.

Thanks for the help, but the vendor has a new app coming out and has dropped support for this.
What version of MS SQL? Did you change that recently?
What version of Windows? Has that changed recently?
