Email Alias not working

We have an employee that requested an alias be made for his email address.  I did that an I am getting the following error:

"The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address."

I simply created another SMTP email address in the ADUC -> Username -> Properties -> Email Addresses tab.

Is there something else I need to do?

No it doesn't.

I also force recreated the offline address book and force downloaded it to my client.
put your client in online mode, and test again.

sounds like you might be having replication issues. using the ADUC, check the email addresses tab for that particular user by connecting to various domain controllers. looks like the change has not yet replicated throughout your domain.

I put it Outlook in online mode and it still isn't resolving.  However, when I pull up the users AD account, I see both email addresses.
I must be really tired.  I transposed two letters.  It is working fine now. :)
