chkdsk runs every time windows starts/ remove scheduled chkdsk

I asked this question and got great answer about using chkntfs /x,  but this only stops the checking for drive at startup.  what I really need to find out is how to remove the scheduled chkdsk for this drive.  having the drive chkdsk scheduled for a drive prevents disk defragmentation from running on that drive.  letting chkdsk run finds no problems, but the drive is still marked.

thanks

Also - try this:

Start->Run->%systemroot%\tasks

Any actual scheduled tasks pointing to chkdsk (bat files maybe?)

yes, partition is marked as dirty,

no tasks pointing to chkdsk.

the question is how to remove dirty designation.

I don't have hp scanner, and don't think I should run the recover a corrupted registry steps,  it is not too complicated, but I'm not sure what the result would be.  I'm not convinced the registry is corrupt.

I have done that several time, it will do it every time windows starts.  this does not remove the dirty tage,

that is why I'm asking how to manually remove this tag.

thanks

the only way i found is : (from the web) :
fsutil dirty clear /mnt/ntfs - to clear the dirty flag.

unfortunately, there is no dirty clear command.

D:\xp Support Tools>fsutil dirty clear f:
clear is an invalid parameter.
---- DIRTY Commands Supported ----

query           Query the dirty bit
set             Set the dirty bit

but that would be nice if such a parameter did exist.

I did also try the other parameters listed on your post.

thanks

I found an answer. it may not be the only one, but this worked.  I ran chkdsk /r from the recovery console.  partition is now marked not dirty.

thank for help
