Hi,

I recently setup my users with roaming profiles. I found that a few received the following error when logging off or restarting.  "Windows cannot update your roaming profile. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights."

I verfied the permissions on each users profile folder are as follows.
individual user-full control
system- full control
domain admin- full control
inherit security settings from parent folder- not checked

I've tried rebuilding the profiles by renaming the existing one so a new user folder is created, but i get the same error.  Not sure why this only happens to a few users, everyone else is fine and the permissions are setup the same way..

Do they get any error when logging on?  Check the permissions on the local C: drive of the workstation as well as the profile share on the server.  If the local NTFS permissions do not give them read/write to the C: drive of the local computer, this can cause this type of error.  However, the error usually occurs at logon as well as at logoff.

zielke51,
-The permissions to the profiles$ share are the same as all the other users.
-The persmissions on the sub folders are set to inherit from the parent
-Plenty of space on the drive were the profiles resides and no quota limits set.
-The unc path is correct in AD's roaming profile settings for the users.

hypercat,
I get no errors when logging in, only when loggging out.  The users are in the administrator group on the workstations.  So that should give them read/write to the c:.
