Can I remove/delete McMapi.dll from my registry without causing problems in any applications? I have uninstalled McAfee SpamKiller.

Always back up your registry keys before deleting.
Right click on the key that you are going to delete and then select "Export"
Save it as a file on your C drive as regbackuptodaysdate_delete_me.reg
This way when you see it in the future, you will know if it is safe to delete that backup file.

Now, where exactly in the registry is that reference?  If it is under HKLM/Software/Network Associates, or NAI, then I would say yes.
If it is under the RUN section of HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/RUN, then yes.

Not sure why your wanting to clean that up but if you don't really have good reason, then just leave it.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Mike

McAfee SpamKiller started preventing Outlook from opening, with the error always referencing "mcmapi.dll" as the pont of failure. I did uninstall McAfee SpamKiller with results that Outlook will now open correctly.
When running a Search in my computer for "mcmapi.dll" the only occurrance tha came back was in McAfee SpamKiller. My reasoning is, if no other applications use that .dll. why retain it in registry?

Thanks for your rapid reply...

The only reference to "mcmapi.dll" in the registry is:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603
Name: 000     Type: REG_SZ       Data: mcmapi.dll

\HKEY_USERS\S-xxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-1005\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603
Name: 000     Type: REG_SZ       Data: mcmapi.dll
