SBS 2003 & VPN & VPN Client

I've never setup VPN on client PCs to a remote network, only network to network VPN.

The server is using Windows Firewall, no external router (I inherited this box, didn't set it up).  Clients are XP Pro.  Here are my questions:

Is there anything built in that I can use to implement VPN access to the local shares from remote locations?
Assuming not, then I was thinking of disabling Windows Firewall and installing a VPN router from Linksys with port 1723 open.  Does 1723 get forwarded to the server for user authentication?  Any other ports to forward?
Is there a particular VPN client that one can recommend?  Is there one built in to XP Pro?  From what I've read, PPTP is the best approach, yes?  Any other comments or help to get this setup would be appreciated.

I forgot to add more to my comments about the VPN client.  If you do NOT have Remote Web Workplace (RWW) configured, you can manually package the VPN client. This is on the same page of the Server management console and is called Create a remote connection disk. The client can be configured manually, but it is recommended to use the disk. Should you need to do so manually see:

SBS has an other feature you may want to look at as well, Remote Web Workplace.  This will allow users to connect remotely to a local machine in the office (secured using SSL).  FYI, RWW requires ports 443 and 4125 to be forwarded on the router and/or on the software firewall.
