I recently set up Windows Server 2003 with AD, DNS server and DHCP. My problem is this: I cannot add any of the client computers (all running windows xp) to the domain. This is a small but expanding network (<10 computers at the moment). The error when i try to join the domain is this:
--------
The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain <DOMAINNAME>:

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.<DOMAINNAME>

Common causes of this error include the following:

- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.

- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:

wibuus.local
local
. (the root zone)

I'm using all DHCP for configuration, which seems to work properly
Example ipconfig:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . <DOMAIN NAME>
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.3
        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.254

Ok, thats all for the client side. I'll post again for server side issues as soon as I gather all the information
