Renewing Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition Version 9 Maintenance

I received a notice from Symantec that SAV 9 maintenance would expire shortly.  The notice referred me to a reseller.  I contacted the vendor who arranged the original purchase of software and licenses.  I have received from them a certificate for the renewal.  It contains a serial number "needed for activation".

At this point I have not been able to find out how to use the new serial number to renew the expiring maintenance agreement.  The Symantec website has not been helpful.

I would appreciate your guidance.

You need to make a new account, then there is a location to add serial numbers. when you add a serial number you have to then Activate it all on the same web site.... it's a pain in the ass but after going through that they will send you an e-mail with a .sif attachment that you can use to license your version.

I used the link you provided and created a new Portal account.  The new account setup form asked for the serial number which I provided and added to the Catalog.

At this point it is not clear to me from the information I can get from the Catalog record that the Maintenance renewal is complete.

I received an email message from symantec with the registration confirmation.  Do they send other information about the renewal?

They should send you a maintenance cert. either by mail or email.
I used the link provided by debugitbob and set up a License Portal account.  In the License Portal I added
the renewal using the serial number from the certificate provided through my reseller.  I added the entry to
the Catalog.  

At this point I don't know if that completes the process.  The Symantec online resources for renewal are not
clear to me as to how to simply renew the maintenance features for a license.

What am I missing?

Is my understanding correct that when LiveUpdate runs on the PCs with the installed software that
the new subscription will be recognized?
