Employee and Management hierarchy DB design

Last Modified: 2013-12-03
Hey Guys,
I am trying to create a db for staff management and having some problems with the management hierarchy for the employees
Now I have the employee table like this
EmpID Unique identifier based on the employee CorpID
Reportsto --->self join to the EmpID in the same table

this design is not getting me the expected results
in plain English, if I have a manager who manages 5 departments I want to list all the supervisors of these departments and every staff member  they supervise.
Does this make any sense? if yes whats the best db design for something like this.
