hello experts
i am looking for a application which can download a full website for offline browsing
with not only images but also with download links and the files
which get downloaded on clicking them
i tried HTTrack website copier which did a gr8 job with site but did not download the files.
it connect to the web site whn clicked on download link
is it really possible
pls help

Econify - the guys gave you great tools that can do the job. But keep in mind that some sites you can download their files, some other sites you can download the main page but nothing further, some you can download html/jpg/gif/js but nothing else. The bottom line is that it all depends on the site.

Teleport Pro downloads lets you specify whether you want to download everything or just specific files. It allows you to down an entire site or just go X number of level deep from you starting point (# levels deep = # links away). It can be set to cross over to other sites - getting their files too if desired. It allows you to specify a username and password for sites that require such, and it allows you to control the speed of the file queuing and downloading to prevent bogging down the site and possibly getting blocked.
I think it is safe to say that whether your job is big or small, Teleport Pro can do the job and do it well. As I said in my previous post, I have used and been fully satisfied with Teleport Pro.

Suppose you bought same computer as server, and installed identical version of Microsoft OS.
Suppose website runs a Visual Basic executable.
You may be able to get a copy of the exe, and it will be HW & OS compatible.
However, VB also can require specific DLLs and other files that are not part of MS OS and are not part of the exe and are quite invisible and protected from anyone trying to download, unless a rare site with no security and all files are open to world.
Maybe you should also buy Visual Studio to accomodate that, but you'll still be unable to run code written for other than x86 such as of Sun, MAC, etc
Text files are fine and a site only d/l'ing java can run offline, when using relative addressing, but while some of that is popular, it is incomplete in extreme. You'll only get a small set possible, but if they are what you want then you should be ok, although you likely would not need to ask us this question.

My recommended program, Teleport Pro, creates a fully browsable version of the site(s) if desired. In the case of server side scripting (PHP, etc.), it will create html versions of the page so that it will not be readily noticeable when browsing offline. You can never actually grab the server side code, but you can still download the full website in a browsable form.
All downloads can be included or excluded from your site grab based on whatever parameters you set.
For links that go beyond what you have set to download, you can have the program
leave them as they would appear in the actual code,
ensure that all links have the full address when necessary for proper linking (replace relative links with absolute links as needed), OR
create local links to where the files would be on you machine should you decide to download them later.

well you can define the depth of the urls should be retrieved in normal Site copier softwares. in Site eater like softwares you can define what to download and what not to. But let me tell you that it doesnt work on certain web sites.
they will all work but some will work better for you than others.
