Exhange 2003 - Problems setting up a Mailbox for an individual user

Hi

I have recently setup an exchange 2003 enterprise server and I am experiencing problems setting up a mailbox for one existing user.

The server is a member domain, running server 2003 R2 with exchange 2003 Enterprise.
I have setup a handful of users who are using exchange fine, but today I have created a mailbox for an existing user; the  the wizard complete with no errors... But I can't log into the account.  There is no information in the e-mail addresses tab on AD.

I am now getting errors in the event viewer, ID 8270 and warning errors 8315

Error Message:
LDAP returned the error [32] Insufficient Rights when importing the transaction
dn: <GUID=DB61DD8ACEFE5947854E91503AA10058>
changetype: Modify
proxyAddresses:X400:c=GB;a=

Warning message:
The service could not update the entry 'CN=USERNAME,OU=DOMAIN Local Users,DC=DOMAIN DC=DOMAIN,DC=CO,DC=UK' because inheritable permissions are not propagated to this object. The inheritable permissions may be disabled because the object belongs to a Windows 2000 administrative group or the inheritable permissions were disable explicitly by an administrator. DC=DOMAIN,DC=DOMAIN,DC=CO,DC=UK

The above errors are showing up approx every 10 minutes in the event viewer.

I have searched these and found information relating to recipient policy and recipient update service.  I have updated these but this hasn't done anything.
I have since created new users in AD and created mailboxes fine, i have also created accounts for existing users and these are working fine.  This seems to be isolated to this particular user.
We are running a single Exchange server environment; I have seen many articles relating to multiple exchange server problems.
On installing the server I ran Domain Prep, i mention this as i have seen articles saying run this, i have not tried running this yet, as im not sure what effect this could have on the existing users.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi

See the following MS KB and follow the steps in Scenario 3

ASKER

Hi Gary

I have carried out both tasks but I'm still experiencing the same error.
I have deleted the mailbox from the user and tried recreating the mailbox.  I have also now removed exchange attributes before recreating the mailbox.

I have also created another test user with a mailbox and that works fine, this seems to be isolated to this one user.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

The only security settings I could see relating to security in AD were under exchange advanced > Mailbox rights.
The only object in here is self, there was no option for inherit permissions from parent.

Am i looking at the right security tab?

Thanks.
