My search for the answer to my svchost question turned up this answer Q_20497631.html .

I went to the link and tried the CMD: "Tasklist /SVC " and got "'tasklist' in not recognized as an internal or external command..."

I also tried it without the switch, with the same result.

Why is that?

If you aren't running XP home, you might have a pathing problem.

tasklist.exe normally exists in %windir%\system32 (c:\windows\system32), if your path isn't properly configured with %windir%\system32, it won't work.

This should work if you have path problems:
%windir%\system32\tasklist /SVC

well if one of us 'pro' users uploaded a copy of tasklist.exe - would that solve the prob or is that possibly illeagal?  There are plenty of other files from XP that are backed up on the net so i personally would doubt it. Maybe send a $1 contribution to M$ for it   :)

Johnb provided the perfect answer first but I had to give JonVee some points for his excellent offering as well.

Hope that works for everyone.
