Outlook - text typed in new message form does not display, cursor moves across screen, but no characters display

I just converted a client from AOL to Outlook, a simple process with the ePreserver software.  She has experience with Outlook, so I did not put her through "basic" training.  As soon as I returned from working with her, I had this email: "I  attempted to create a new e-mail message in Outlook and when I started typing the body of the letter nothing happened. No letters, nothing. The cursor would move across the page, but no characters would appear."  Her computer is set to send messages in HTML.  I had her review font (Arial black) and stationery settings (blank) and did not find anything unusual.  She also reported that she could send replies OK - text appeared properly.  Additionally, I had her type some text in Word, then try to paste it into a new HTML Outlook message form, but it, too, did not appear in the message form.

I am planning to do some problem analysis by changing the default message type to plain text, changing fonts, colors, etc.

Any ideas about what might be causing this bizarre situation?  Thanks in advance for your insight!

Possibly a corrupt Normal.dot template.

If they check their My Documents/Templates folder and change the Normal.dot to Normal.old then open up word again, a new Normal.dot template will be created (albeit, all the previous styles, signatures etc will have to be input again).

Try the new email again via and see if this resolves your problem.

ASKER

My client resolved this by rebooting the computer.  The problem should be closed with no points awarded.
