Congratulations to our five time Genius—zorvek

Kevin turned on the afterburners in January, and shot past the 5 million point mark so fast it gave me whiplash watching him. Assuming that his participation survives the transition to the new site, he should become the overall leader sometime in the next few months. And why not? He's got over a thousand solutions in his knowledge database, and can customize one far faster than anybody else can write one from scratch. Since TA questions are somewhat repetitive, most of the time the solution is somewhere in that knowledge base. And like a good Borg, he (and his database) assimilates the other solution in the rare event that somebody else comes up with a better idea.

I understand that Kevin received the T-shirt that was promised to people who earned a certificate last year. But he doesn't get to wear it. Apparently, his daughter saw it first, and has pinned it to the wall in her bedroom. Heaven help the next generation of experts--zorvekjr is coming!

Kevin should have some good news to report in the next few days from another area of the world. News of his prowess has apparently spread--but that's his story to tell.

Congratulations Kevin! Woohoo!

Congrats from Copenhagen (Denmark, Scandinavia).
Brad is right about the solution database, fast solutions is definitely a "trademark" of yours.

Congratualtions - a great achivement indeed!
I'll be the first [OK, second, no... third... gee, I hope nobody else posts before I hit [Submit]) to congratulation you on a solution copy, right?

So... you got your T-Shirt!?!  I hope the spacing between "Experts" & "Exchange" is suitably wide enough not to cause offence to your young offspring.

Just shows the E-E management favo[u]ritism to those with 5m points, rather than those of us with a fifth of that.  Sheesh! ;)

(Or maybe the E-E budget does not extend to people in the UK... anyhoo...)

Presumably your time here is just a 'who's got a bigger one than Brad' competition now?  As you've already proven your staying power.

But well done in any respect :)

Respect!

BFN,

fp.
I got so carried away, I forgot my spell checker... :-)
Well deserving of a woohoo! I still firmly believe that either Kevin doesn't sleep or he has evolved the ability to post while asleep - how else can you get half a million points in a little over a month?? (I have, for the time being, discounted my original theory that he is in fact a Turing machine) One of these days, he may even post his database of solutions and then we'll all be out of work!
Keep up the disturbing work.
Rory
PS A note to Patrick (M) - see if you can actually hit 1,999,999 points.
Congrats, Kevin. A formidable run-rate indeed. Puts some of us to shame! :)
Congratulations! It's all of the experts here who make life at work a bit more bearable for those of us with (FAR) less experience and knowledge. Thank you for all you do Kevin..it's amazing.
Congrats Kevin!!

I asume that your daughter pinned the T-Shirt to the wall instead of a photo of you. Watching the time you spend here you certainly have to look like the EE-logo. So the T-shirt will match your current state of being more then the photo a year ago.

Still thanks for also helping with commenting in Clean-up questions.

Jeroen

Congratulations........
Elders in the family hide all the shortcomings of the juniors. Excel TA would have been much poorer without the BIG Brother !
Kudos.........

Hey Kevin, Congratulations!

Sorry for not getting here sooner but it seems that my QP isn't working properly!  :(  Working with the new interface isn't as productive for me.

Great job on getting to 5M!  I also noticed that you claimed 3 out of the 4 Excel TA awards for last year with Rory taking the only one you weren't elgible for:

zorvek     2,437,541    Most Points
rorya       1,092,047    Most Points by Rookie
zorvek     1,882           Most Answered
zorvek     162,856       Most Assist Points

It's been fun watching your rise and learning from your wealth of information.  I hope we will continue to benefit from your knowledge.

Well done and Woohoo!

Jim
Kevin,

What to write that has not already been written about you, here and in other congrats threads?

I've lauded your skills before, so this time I will focus on something different: the way you contribute to our little corner of the EE community.  Lots of regulars here have remarked on how the Excel "zone" is a friendly, civil, and supportive place.  Brad usually gets a lot of the credit for that, but you are a key contributor in that area too.  You set an excellent example for the newcomers, and your efforts to informally reach out to rising regulars has really made a big difference.

So thank you for all of your efforts here, making the Excel zone a better place and teaching me an incredible amount on how to wring the best out of Excel and VBA!  I consider it the highest praise when every so often you see one of my posts and say "that's one for the database"  :)

Best regards,

Patrick

I engaged in a little bit of foreshadowing in the next to last paragraph of the question. I suspected that Kevin was going to be named Cell Master by Colo, but didn't know how good Kevin's story was going to be: http://www.puremis.net/excel/cellmasters.shtml
