SATA Harddisk is not detected
Im using a compaq presario 6000 IL with ASUS motherboard and AMD2600+ processor . I have 2 SATA ports on my motherboard and when i connect a sata hardidsk i never find any option in the BIOS whether it had been detected or not .
And in also BIOS there is no option for SATA or something like that . Please suggest how to connect a SATA harddisk to my system

If you dont see such infor in the bios, you should update your bios.

Thanks for ur reply but i didnt find any option like like that in my BIOS . Mine is Phoenix Award Cmos bios 3.08 dated 02/04/2004

Any option in the sense any option about PATA / SATA in the BIOS
Update BIOS is critical process, do only really needed. The link below is how-to:

You should read thru that instruction before doing so. Back up system and back up the current bios first.

The link I provided is for you Desktop model, by default, in bios, section Advance, you should PATA/SATA there. If you did not find any of that, you should open the case and ID sata ports onboard, if there are, then you should update bios in order to detect that sata ports.
What SATA drives are you trying to connect? Manufacturer and model.
Check to see if southbridge chip has VIA labeled on it.

VIA 8237 SATA controllers do not play nice with all SATA II drives, WD in particular.
For a WD SATA drive, jumper pins 5 and 6. If you don't, drive will not be recognized. Seagate drives are OK (at least ones I've used). Others may or may not require speed limiting jumper.
