asked on

increasing system volume size

Situation:
C: System volume - drive is 12GB but has about 70 GB of unallocated space on the drive (DELL partitioning)

the 70GB was previously allocated to storage volume D, but a new 120gb hdd serves as the storage drive so this space is in limbo. What is the most painfree way to add the 70gb to the system volume as C is running out of space...fast.
I converted C to dynamic disk only to find out later that one cannot extend a system volume that way.

I was thinking about imaging the drive with Norton Save and Restore...but since i've heard less than stellar reviews about Save & Restore, i'm hesitant to use it. And another problem is I dont know where to being with drive imaging.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If I were you, I wouldn't make C: that large.  Leave it at 12GB and move the data per the document Olaf linked above.

thanks a lot both. I actually have a copy of that document when i was first thrown into the deep end when I started at my current workplace.

I had the data folders on D: initially, i moved them to C when installing the 120gb drive, which is now D.

thanks again.
