Slow Internet access after format and reloading XP
The Internet was starting to slow down on my PC until one day it finally quit working. I had installed Diskeeper 2007 and ran a complete degrag which is what I thought finally did it in. I decided to reload so I put the XP cd in and deleted all partitions on the drive, then created 2 new partitions. I installed XP and nothing else, but accessing the Internet is still slow. Opening other applications such as Outlook Express are not slow. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. THanks!

No, the Internet is fine on 2 other machines I have here. I dont have any applications installed except what came with XP, but everything such as Outlook Express, Media Player, Movie Maker.. run fine. Its only the Internet on this one PC that is affected.
Try running this: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html
Do a full online scan for viruses and malware at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_frame.asp

I cant do a scan because I cant get to the website. Is there any type of download I can save from another PC so I can install it on the problem PC?
