SQL Server backup and remote restore

Experts,
I need to backup a database from Sql2000 and restore it on a server located in a remote location which is running Sql 2005.
Never done such before, I need the some suggestions and steps to accomplish this.
Step by step procedure in auotomatically copying a Sql 2000 database onto a Sql 2005 server located in a different city every night, to be specific,
 a) How do i backup the source database? firts , Do i need to back up the source or can i just copy  data from source to destination using DTS? do i schedule a job or DTS or what?

 b) Once i have a backup file , does it needs to be moved to the remote (destination)  machine? or can  it  be restored from the souce location itself? If so how to do it?

c) if the backup file needs to be moved or for the restore process does any changes need to be made on the firewall? What do i ask the NT folks for?

Like i said earlier , i had never done this before and the the above link doesnt give me such information.
Please help!
