I need a new Burner

I was just at a very well known IT seller’s web site, looking to order a good quaily DVD burner (ready to order it today) and ask about burner features, sotward bundles & if there were any compatibility issues etc. that I should consider prior making a choice and ordering.

When I ask, I got a response to the effect that, ” …we do not offer any technical assistance. We also do not offer advice.  We do not give out guidance about compatibility … etc.“

Are there issues to consider beyond a burners featurers or that it is for a PC with XP and the price to take into consideration?
Is there anything I need to know before ordering a burner?
This seemed like such a simple decision me.
I have an abit AW9D-MAX motherboard.

The only difference is that some brands are known to perform a little better than others, such as Plextor, and may last longer, too.  If you buy NEC or LG or Pioneer or Sony, they will be pretty good also, but they cost so little, so replacing them is no big deal.

Just make sure they will burn both + and - R DVD's, and probably want Dual Layer. The only thing to consider is whether or not you want the ability to burn Light-Scribe discs. They are the ones you can flip 'upside down' and burn lables onto. Other than that, speed and warranty are things to consider. (Besides $$)
