VPN - Unable to browse to shared network folder when connected to the Linksys RVS400 router via QuickVPN through a SonicWall.

Problem:  Unable to browse to shared network folder when connected to the Linksys RVS400 router via QuickVPN through a SonicWall.

Clarification of problem:  We are trying to connect to a VPN network using the QuickVPN client and a Linksys RVS4000 router.  On the source side, we are on a LAN with a SonicWall separating us from the internet.  I've set the SonicWall to Allow All, and still can't browse the network folder on the destination side (where the Linksys is).  Once connected, I can map a network drive AND I can add the UNC path, but can't open the folder - it just hangs for several minutes.  I can launch remote desktop to the server, but the screen freezes while pulling up the login prompt (I get a partial window, but it never finishes painting the prompt).

If I try this same connection from outside the SonicWall, I can explore the shared folder on the Linksys side with no problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Two thoughts;
-the QuickVPN client uses port 443, or 60443. Make sure those ports are not blocked on the Sonicwall, they likely are not by default (for outgoing). Also if you download the latest QuickVPN client, ver 1.1.00, you can specify which of those ports is used. Try the 60443 in case there is a conflict with another service. I would also always recommend downloading the latest router firmware as well.
-the QuickVPN client does not like being behind dual NAT devices. Any chance at the client site the modem is a combined modem and router?

ASKER

RobWill,
Thanks for your reply.  I've actually tried changing up the 443 and 60443 ports on the QuickVPN software, but to no avail.

The client site is behind a SonicWall firewall/router, which is in turn behind a normal DSL modem.

The odd thing is that I can establish the VPN connection and even map the drive.  It just fails when I try to actually explore that drive.
