QOS Setup on Cisco Router And Switch for voice priority

I was wondering if anyone has a guide on how to setup the cisco router and switch for QOS such that priority is given to voice packets over data packets. The phones would be connected to the switch and the router is used for interVlan and also for point to point between offices. From my understanding, layer 2 switch would be used to tag all the voice port packets, while the router would direct the traffic based on the tag and using service policy and qos to ensure that voice packets get higher priority. Thanks.

Hi,
Switch model is catalyst 6509 with a msfc(layer 3), 3800 router(point to point) and 3650 edge switches.

the catalyst switch on  layer 2 would be running catos while all other would be running ios. The edge switch is used to connect the phones and pc.

cwtang, what you stated is right, if the 6509 is an access switch it should be doing the classification, and markng, but as it is L3, it could also do congestion avoidande, LLQ, etc.
You should configure QoS in all the devices.
Anyway, heres a link with examples, it'sfor the 3550, but it should be aplicable to the 6500 and the 3650

On the router you shold configure LLQ

Routers
Routers

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. The most familiar type of routers are home and small office cable or DSL routers that simply pass data, such as web pages, email, IM, and videos between computers and the Internet. More sophisticated routers, such as enterprise routers, connect large business or ISP networks up to the powerful core routers that forward data at high speed along the optical fiber lines of the Internet backbone. Though routers are typically dedicated hardware devices, use of software-based routers has grown increasingly common.
